AAirpass® Membership - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is eligible to join the AAirpass program? A: Anyone is eligible to join. If you currently travel last minute in full fare and spend at least $10k per year, you're a good candidate. Please visit AAirpass.com for more information regarding the AAirpass program.
Q: Do I have to be an AAdvantage member to join the AAirpass program? A: Yes, your AAdvantage profile will include an AAirpass indicator if you are a member.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept with the AAirpass program? A: Wire Transfer, Cashier’s Check, and UATP. No credit cards are accepted.
Q: What types of AAirpass memberships are available? A: Both Individual memberships (personal travel balances) and corporate memberships (shared travel balances) are available.
Q: What is the minimum commitment for an AAirpass membership? A: The minimum commitment for an AAirpass membership is $10,000 per traveler, per year.
Q: Who do I contact for individual membership sales? A: If you are interested in an individual membership and would like us to review your travel history to determine if our individual program is a good fit for you, please contact us at aairpass@aa.com or (800) 433–6355.
Q: Who do I contact for corporate memberships? Q: Can AAirpass members use their AAirpass on oneworld partners? A: No, AAirpass may only be used on American Airlines®, American Eagle® or AmericanConnection®
Q: Who do I contact with questions about the program? A: AAirpass Customer Service representatives are available from 8am – 5pm CT M –F and can be reached via phone at (800) 433 – 6355 or via email at aairpass@aa.com. They can assist you with individual sales, supplemental purchases, renewals, contract administration and customer website registration.
Q: Can I check my balance on-line? A: Yes, The AAirpass Customer Website provides access to account balances, statements, reporting, flight activity, and more. Contact AAirpass Customer Service for information regarding on-line registration.
Q: How do I book my AAirpass reservations? A: AAirpass reservations can be booked by a Travel Agency, AA Reservations at (800) 433-6464, on-line at AA.com or at the airport. Check out AAirpass.com's Reservations page for more information.
Q: What are my booking options? A: The AAnytime® Option: Members who make their travel arrangements at the last minute may enjoy last seat availability by booking in unrestricted First (F), Business (J), or Coach (Y); one-way or round-trip with no change fees
The PlanAAhead® Option: Members who can make their travel arrangements at least 7 days in advance may enjoy 25% off AAnytime Coach by booking in restricted Coach (H) inventory. A $150 fee is deducted automatically for changes, cancellations, or no-shows after ticketing.
Q: When will my account be charged for my flight? A: Miles are deducted only when you fly.
Q: If I book PlanAAhead 7 days in advance, will the miles be deducted immediately? A: No, the miles are deducted once you fly.
Q: Will the AAnytime fare apply when a change is made to my 7-day advance ticket? A: If you make a change to your AAirpass PlanAAhead ticket, a $150 service charge will be applied and a new ticket will be issued. If the new ticket issued is not issued in H Class and/or ticketed 7 days in advance, then the higher AAnytime AAirpass fare will apply.
Q: Will the mileage for the service charge be deducted from my AAirpass account at time of ticketing? A: No, the $150 service charge will be deducted from your AAirpass account after you have flown or after the departure date of changed/canceled PlanAAhead AAirpass ticket and it will reflect on your monthly statement.
Q: Can AAirpass PlanAAhead tickets be upgrade to X? A: AAirpass members may upgrade using purchased 500-mile upgrades on any fare under both the AAnytime and PlanAAhead options.
Q: Are AAirpass PlanAAhead tickets eligible for complimentary upgrades? A: No, only tickets in Y / Ba re eligible for the complimentary upgrades.
Q: Am I allowed to fly stand-by for an earlier flight on the same day? A: If you have a PlanAAhead reservation booked in H, you may confirm a seat for same day flight changes at no charge. See our Confirmed Flight Change policy for more details. If you have an AAnytime reservation booked in F, J, or Y there is no need to fly stand-by for another flight. Simply cancel your existing reservation and book your revised itinerary in a new reservation.
Q: Can AAirpass members book UP fares / instant upgrade (via AA.com) using their AAirpass? A: Yes, if an UP fare using A, D, or I inventory is available in the market it can be booked using AAirpass. All fare rules must still be followed.
Q: Are AAirpass members responsible for taxes, fees and surcharges when booking AAirpass? A: Yes, all taxes, fees, and surcharges are accessed to an AAirpass ticket and are debited from the account once the member flies.
Q: Are AAirpass member exempt from the Res Handling / Service Fee? A: Yes, AAirpass members are exempt of the Reservation Handling / Service Fee.
Q: How do I check in? A: AAirpass members check-in via normal check-in options.
Q: How do I upgrade? A: Members traveling in coach may upgrade their bookings via normal AAdvantage upgrade procedures. Elite AAdvantage members (AAdvantage Gold®, AAdvantage Platinum® or Executive Platinum®) are eligible for the complimentary domestic 500-Mile upgrades when traveling AAirpass using the AAnytime Option. AAirpass members can upgrade using purchased 500-Mile upgrades on any fare under both the AAnytime and PlanAAhead options
Q: Are AAirpass member exempt from the Checked Baggage Fee? A: Yes, AAirpass members are exempt for the 1st and 2nd Checked Baggage Fee.
Q: What does an AAirpass member need to gain access to the Admirals Club? A: Members eligible for Admirals Club access must provide their government-issued photo identification and AAdvantage Number (AAdvantage number available on paper boarding passes).
Q: Are AAirpass members eligible for PriorityAAccessSM Privileges? A: Yes, AAirpass members are eligible for PriorityAAccess Privileges. Go to AA.com/PriorityAAccess for more information.
